The most recorded tango of this name was that composed by Vicente Greco. This was recorded by Francisco Canaro 10-11-1932 and 17-02-1949. 2. However, there is another song arranged as a tango. It is unclear whether this was originally a German cabaret song composed by A. Gutheil in 1897 and allegedly based on the melody of Florian Hermann's Valse Hommage, but the most renowned version was written by Adalgiso Ferraris and published with a German editor in 1910 in Russia as Schwarze Augen (Dark Eyes) and republished in Paris in 1931 as Tes Yeux Noirs. In 1935, Francisco Canaro recorded it as Ojos Negros Que Fascinan. Nonetheless, it is a famous favourite in Russia as Очи чёрные Ochi chyornye. Ojos Negros Que Fascinan - Francisco Canaro c. The third title is that of Oscar Strok, 1893-1975, a Latvian composer of many tangos performed by Pyotr Leschenko but here Strok's Dark Eyes is performed by Florindo Sassone 1974 /watch/cVKeyKTqC5nqe And finally, there is one further piece of confusion. In most languages, the direct translation is Black Eyes. However, in English, Black Eyes means the bruising around the eyes perhaps resulting from a fight or walking into a door. So, in English, this song title is always translated as Dark Eyes.
