Supported by students of the Dr. John Garang University in Bor / South Sudan and the Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture Development, women of Padak (Jonglei State) launched a collective initiative to take their development into their own hands. Their strong dedication is admirable and the fertile, virgin soil is a good precondition for their success. Their success could also be a contribution to stop land grabbing by international agricultural companies who already have leased hundred of thousands of hectares of fruitful land in the country. The development of agriculture is one of the keys for the development of the South Sudanese economy. Till now, most fruits, vegetables and crops are imported from neighboring countries like Uganda and Kenya or donated by international organizations.
