The Shuman tunnel is only 300 feet long, but you can't see through it because it is curved. Located near Bloomsburg, Pa. the Reading RR used this line.
I WAS WRONG ON SOME OF THE HISTORY - Here is accurate history from one of my viewers that lives nearby. --- The trains still ran in the 60's. I live right near there
My brother in his 20's at the time helped the RR.tear.up.the tracks in.80's. I as a 60's child used to wave at my g.father (He worked for the Reading.RR.) as the train went through the family farm. Also, in the 60's I remember train derailments, thanks to a couple of local boys and a few quarters, and the snow pusher running the tracks after a foot or more of snow and ice, clearing the tracks...The info here and other sites are wrong..it was NOT 1953 when last used. More like late 60's early 70's.
