Google will pay Canadian news outlets $100M. Here's where it's going

Google will continue to share Canadian news online in return for the company paying Canadian news publishers $100 million annually. Last month, Google and the federal government reached an agreement in their dispute over the Online News Act. The compensation for news organizations will be distributed to outlets based on the number of full-time journalists they employed in the last year. Print and digital media will take the largest chunk, 63 per cent. CBC/Radio-Canada's portion of the fund will be capped at seven per cent, while other private and public broadcasters will split the remaining 30 per cent.
