EIN GEDI Welcome to the ein gedi nature reserve, the david stream flows all year round, and includes a variety of waterfalls and natural pools. The acacia tree, provides food and shelter to the rock irax. Tristram's starling, an endemic species to the reserve and the dead sea arava rift, can be identified by its black color and two orange strips on its wings. The ibax, symbol of the Israeli national parks authority, is well adapted to the rock cliffs and the arid desert conditions. The abundance of sweet spring water has allowed extensive human settlement throughout the centuries ; a 6000 year old temple, dating back to the copper age, was revealed, as well as a jewish synagogue with an impressive mosaic floor from mishna and Talmudic times.
